Current Happenings and Oliver's Birthday

Hello, Hello!!

The past few months have flown by before we really realised what was happening. Can it really be the end of July again?!

Rob has started his new job at KFC, and he is really enjoying it. He is in the "training" phase at the moment, so he is doing lots of cooking and soon lots of serving. It is all good and a stepping stone to the goal of Restaurant Manager.

I am enjoying more time at home with no netball and no kinder committee. Given Rob has the car most days, a lot of the daily tasks are done on foot. The younger boys and I are enjoying catching up with Ruth and the girls regularly at the park - Ruth and I even escaped from kids one afternoon a few weeks ago to go and see a movie... It was fun!

I have also been greatly enjoying the time I have at home with the younger boys. Here are some guitar photos of my little "rock stars" in the making.

The boys are growing up too quickly. Sebastian and Oliver have grown 3cm and 4 cm respectively in the past 6 months. I think they are going to be very tall very soon. I am still holding out hope that just maybe Caleb will be more my height.... not sure how that will go though?!

Sebastian is now half way through grade one. I am constantly astounded by some of the things he comes out with... such as "Mummy, do you know that some people think orange (the colour) and orange (the fruit) are homophones but really they are not because they are spelled the same."

I googled it... he's right.

He is doing really well on his spelling and maths too... he has only got 4/5 once on the weekly spelling test... the rest have been 5/5. A bit of a clever ducky I think! Seb has been given the opportunity to do 7 weeks on circus skills after school on Fridays, so he is really looking forward to that!
Seb still wants to be a fire fighter and still loves Elvis (the firefighter helicopter!).

Auskick is still on the cards. On the weeks Rob has the car for work, we all walk/scoot. Here are some photos from last week.

Oliver is absolutely loving kinder. He takes great joy in answering all of Judy's questions and loves to sing a song about the sweet sound of rain falling.... I was on kinder duty the other day when they sang the song and was promptly told that I can now sing the "rain" song because I've heard it once while I was wiping down the tables ready for snack time. Hmmm.

Oliver's current occupation when he grows up is policeman.

As you can see from the photo, he is a real character and barrels of laughs!
I don't think school can quite come soon enough for Oliver (I was told today that now he is 5, he can go to school - not quite!). He has started to write his own name, but then decided that rather than write his name normally, he would write the entire thing in mirror imaged letters from right to left.

Caleb is as beautiful as ever. His hair is still blonde at the front although there are tell tale signs that his hair will soon be going brown. I don't want to get it cut because it is just so gorgeous at the moment but I know eventually the day will come where it will all go. He is as strong willed as ever, which can be a challenge but we are getting there. His breath holding days are long gone - thank you God - and a happy, smiling, joyful Caleb is here! If you call Caleb 'darling' or 'baby', 'gorgeous' or 'cutie', he very swiftly tells you "no, I'm Caleb" although he pronounces his name more like ' cay-eb'.

Caleb and I have started going to 'Tinies time' at the library on a Tuesday while Oliver is at kinder. Caleb seems to really enjoy the singing and rhymes and then on the way home he falls asleep in the pram - yes!

Bedtimes are currently a challenge, as Caleb's definition of needing to be in bed is when you are asleep, so during that period of time where "I'm awake", he needs a bit of greater encouragement to staying in bed.

OLIVER'S BIRTHDAY

We have enjoyed celebrating Oliver's birthday today. The day started early with everyone out of bed by 6.30am so that presents could be opened before Daddy went to work. A scooter and talking Buzz Lightyear discovered in amongst the wrapping paper, much to the delight of all the boys!

Then, while Oliver was out in the pergola enjoying his new scooter, the postman arrived with another gift... an amazing aircraft carrier toy complete with a few extra planes (courtesy of Uncle Jason and Aunty Trina) This toy was exactly one of the toys that Oliver had examined long and hard in the toy sale catalogues so to have it arrive on the doorstep was an amazing gift! The planes have been much played with (Caleb even fell asleep with two of them on the way to kinder today) and a real hit! Thank you!

Oliver and Caleb also got their faces painted today... Orange spiderman for Oliver with Buzz Lightyear arm patches and a cat for Caleb. It was fun and Caleb had a great time crawling all over the floor at home (and then later the kinder) meowing like a cat.

When Oliver got to kinder today, he discovered that the CFA were visiting to tell the kids all about fire safety and what the CFA do. What amazing timing and another great birthday present! Oliver got to help the fireman turn the hose on and climb on the fire truck!

The final part of the day was the cake after dinner. It was very yummy and lots of fun to make! Spiderman was not really my first preference for a cake character, but given the constant conversations and requests for spiderman, I gave in and the results are below.

We hope this post finds you all well!

Until next time,

May grace and peace be yours,
Tara
